FIRST DAY OF SUMMER

In the northern hemisphere, the first day of the summer is the day of the year when the Sun is farthest north (on June 20th or 21st). This day is known as the Summer Solstice.

In North American-printed English-language calendars summer begins on June 20, the day of the summer solstice, and ends on September 20, the autumn equinox.
